Police say knife-wielding 31-year-old homeless man invaded an Ocean View home on Sunday and robbed an elderly couple.

At 4 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a man with a knife at a home on the 92-1600 block of Aloha Boulevard in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision.

Officers learned that a man had reportedly broken into the house, threatened a man and woman, both 73, with a knife and a rock, took car keys, injuring the elderly man during a struggle and tried to steal their car. The suspect fled on foot as police were arriving. Officers pursued and arrested the man, identified as Alan J. Dush.

Dush was charged today with burglary, robbery, terroristic threatening, assault, criminal property damage, unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle, attempted theft and attempted auto theft. His bail was set at $25,500.

He remains at the Kona police cellblock pending his initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
